About Us

Serving good food to Kiwis since 1962!

IN 1962, CHERRY AND GUY MCLEOD BOUGHT THE NEWMARKET PIECART AND TRANSFORMED IT INTO THE BROADWAY DINER! IN TRUE FAMILY FASHION, THEY PASSED THE BUSINESS ON TO THEIR DAUGHTER, FIONA WHO IS PROUD TO CARRY ON HER FAMILY LEGACY.

So, What Are We All About?

We cook old-fashioned burgers, meals, toasted sandwiches and chunky chips to order, proudly upholding the gold standard for simply good food we set the very day we opened.

Good Food

Our longtime customers say our burgers taste just as good as they did back in the sixties, and why wouldn’t they? We stand by our original  recipes and use only fresh, natural ingredients!

fresh produce

We are proud to support local and NZ produce by going direct to farmers markets to buy only the freshest lettuce, tomato and onions. Our lean beef patties are made with hand-rolled 95% lean New Zealand Angus beef, and you can be sure that your chicken burger boasts pure chicken breast – not minced!

ingredients

We don’t skimp on quality - our steak is Angus Scotch fillet and our onions  are always freshly fried in real butter. You might recognise the well known taste of  NZ brands such as Watties Tomato Sauce and Sealord Crumbed Dory Fillets.  We use free range eggs and bacon, and slice our NZ Colby Cheese on site.
